How to make the pub come to you in lockdown

Blackjack Brewery, established 2012 in Manchester. The brewery that operates out of the green quarter and has its own taphouse on Swan Street, NQ, is now delivering beer to your doorstep during lockdown. The lovely people from Blackjack will be delivering routes through Levenshulme so get your orders in!

Who are Blackjack?

Blackjack brewery have been up and running for eight years and opened their taphouse in 2015, the brewery also has a spot at Altrincham market, aptly named Jack in the box. However, coronoavirus has forced them along with the rest of Britain to shut down or find a new way to work.

The new business plan

The team at Blackjack stood up to the challenge and have altered their business model in an amazing way. The delivery service has been wildly popular and if you are looking for somewhere to stock up on beautiful, real beer from then make sure it’s a local business.

(If you are not in range of Blackjack then check out Brewer’s eye’s tweet showing breweries from around the entire UK that are delivering locally.)

Blackjack are offering bag in boxes (like a wine box but with beer), cans and bottles of a wide range of their beers and ciders. The bag in boxes come in both 5 litre and 10 litre sizes. The team claim that, if kept cool, the bag in boxes will last over seven days once opened and at least three weeks unopened.

Prices for beer start at £18 and cider starts at £10.

non-contact delievery is a top priority for Blackjack

Orders must be in before 6pm the day prior and there are three rounds each week that cover different areas of Manchester.

Deliveries are made without contact by the directors who will leave your order on your doorstep and then ring you to let you know it’s there.

But what about the pub experience?

If you miss being able to meet new people and have a chat at the pub or if you are quarantining alone then head over to the Red (on)Lion. Set up by CAMRA, they say:

“The Red (On)Lion is a video platform where anyone can join the public bar for a lively chat over a beer or book a table to set up video conferencing for up to four participants.”

The Red (on)Lion is part of CAMRA’s effort to tackle loneliness during the coronavirus lockdown, as part of their #PullingTogether campaign.

As well as a main bar area and private tables there are games that `pub-goers` can play; Heads Up, Charades and pub quizzes (subject to location) are available.

CAMRA also has a calendar of live presentations you can join:
